Appropriate plastic thickness for outdoor covering?
If I wanted a light cover for something outside, what type of thickness of plastic sheeting would be good to have? It probably will not have to deal with weather, because it will be brought inside before rain, and it will not get wet. It will however be out in sunlight frequently. Is 4.5mil thick enough? Also, is black or clear better? is one more durable, does one deal better with the sun? is one cheaper? Thanks in advance.

Sounds pretty straight forward. Yes, 4.5 mil sounds thick enough. Black will attract the sun and cause heat. As far as more durable, the higher the mil the tougher it (plastic) is. Clear and Black run about the same in the same thickness. Prices begin to vary when size and thickness differ.
