Does the new “energy efficient” light bulbs take a bit to “warm up?
i just bought my first one. so i dont know if it is my imagination or what. it seems really dim at first and then gets brighter.

If you mean those twisty fluorescent ones then yes they do take a bit to warm up. If you need full light I’d turn them on at least 15 minutes before hand.

yep, mine too. I have them in outdoor fixtures and it’s really apparent when it’s cold outside.

Yes, damn it, and most annoying… they take a second or two before they give off any light, and maybe 5 minutes or more to go to full brightness…..

If you are talking about the CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lights) the answer is yes. They do have rapid start ones that might get bright a little quicker.

Yes, they do take a short while. I find it a nice feature actually; it means my eyes aren’t burned out when I turn on a light at night.
They provide plenty of light to see by instantly, and they come to full brightness in about 15 seconds.

no its not your imagination, they do take a few minutes to "warm up"

I thought that I was hallucinating the first few times I turned the lights on with the new "energy efficient" bulbs, but every single bulb I have does that, so I assume it is normal. I have never had any problems with my bulbs either.
