first period help plzzzz =::(?
okay, this sucks. i just started my period two days ago and so far, my family genes have totally abandoned me. my mom says that the women in my family are lucky coz we get really light and short periods but im not so much seeing that.
the first day it was pretty light, i only had to change my pad twice (and it wasnt full, i just wanted to be safe), but yesterday it wsa hell. i had to change my pad every passing at school (every 45 mins) coz i swear if i bled anymore i would need floaties D= i had to stay home today- thats how bad it is
Also, some additional questions: are tampons unbeliavebly uncomfortable?
is this normal?
since its thurdsay, will it lighten up by saturday?!?!? (im going to an all day outdoor standing concert with tons of stages and bands that ive looked forward to all year)
do you think my next period will be lighter
and i havent gotten cramps yet, just extreme nausea. is this juss PMS? ps. im 13 and my mom says thatsw pretty late. is that tru???
thanks so much for the answers guys. these really calmed me down a bit. =p

i think its all pretty normal… tampons are not uncomfortable if you use them correctly and dont use too large of a size. it should ease up some by the weekend..but it all depends everyone is different. id just plan on taking plenty of supplies to the concert with you. try tampons and a pad on friday so you will know if you can do it for saturday.

If you insert them the right way, you won’t feel uncomfortable. Read the box for tips.

you are not late! dotn be silly ive ehard that 16 yera old girls are waiting for there perioud! Also soem girls get it in 5th grade. Periuds are so randome everyones perioud is dif. You may get cramps you may not it all depends. Your amount, in my opinion, is normal because evryone is different though, if your still worried , ask your mom if you can go to a doctor. Periouds dont necesaary lighten up so im nto sure if itll be light by saturday. I am 13 and i get my perioud every 2 months! Ihardly bleed its just a lil brown discharge kinda! i dont think ill even need pads. for you maybe you should try to get those thick pads so you wont have to change it so often.

period varies for every individual. some females have heavier periods than others
12 – 14 is a healthy age to have your period
you get easily exhausted during the first time you have your period.

ok, let me see if I can help you.
Just because most women in your family have light cycles doesn’t guarantee that you will also. Every body and uterus is different. If you you soak through a pad in less than an hour and continue to do that throughout the whole day there may be call for concern. By soaking through I don’t just mean a lot, I mean soaking so far through the pad cannot hold anymore and it starts you start to leak…it could be a sign that something is going on.
Depending on the person and her insides and the type of tampon will depend on whether it is uncomfortable or not. Also you need to make sure they are going in right. There are so many different kinds to try.
Will it lighten by Sat…no one can answer that one, sorry. It depends on your body and cycle.
Nausea is PMS. Not every one gets cramps or nausea..again depends on the person.
Starting at 13 is so very very normal.

You get your genetics from both you mother and your father – meaning that just because your mother’s side of the family has light periods doesn’t mean that the women on your father’s side has light ones. A tampon shouldn’t be uncomfortable if inserted correctly. I can’t say for sure if it will lighten by Saturday but it should. Some girls don’t start their period until they old as 16 so you are fine.

Don’t worry about how heavy or light it is right now, it’s the first one. If it’s awful all the time then maybe just check in with your doctor about it.
Once you get used to tampons, you will never use pads. Just make sure you’re using the right size, and it’s in there the right way.
& 13 isn’t late

I got my 1st period at age 10, but several of my friends didn’t get theirs until 12-13 yrs. old. Usually, my worst day is the 2nd day – heavy bleeding, cramps, nausea. Then it begins to taper off. I would say that in most cases, a period lasts from 5 to 7 days. So, you should be a little better by Saturday, but do be prepared by bringing along extra pads. Because it’s your 1st period, it may change a little over time. When I started, it was really long but after about 6 months, it shortened and kinda stabilized at 5-6 days per month. PMS is pre-menstrual syndrome. If you start experiencing symptoms like bloating, headaches, mood swings, depression, food cravings or tiredness starting about 3 days before your period is due, that is PMS.
As to tampons, I did think they were uncomfortable when I first tried them, but eventually, I got used to them.

To stop the leaking while at school you should wear a heavier pad ( just for school) or a tampon with another pad under it to be safe. 13 isn’t to late it is actually pretty normal. Usually your period begins from ages 11 to about 16. I got mine at 13 so it’s fine.
Hope i helped ![]()
Good Luck

Ok honey you need to stop freaking out. It is normal to get your period at 13, just ignore your mom.
Tampons only take some getting used to. Some people really do not like them and others will swear by them. The first time using a tampon may be scary, but just relax and follow the directions of the box and you will do fine.
You should try getting some "super absorbent" pads. Your flow will vary from day to day and month to month. If you are interested in doing something to reduce your flow, you can exercise. I find that exercising every day drastically reduces my flow.
Good luck
