Ok honey you need to stop freaking out. It is normal to get your period at 13, just ignore your mom.

Tampons only take some getting used to. Some people really do not like them and others will swear by them. The first time using a tampon may be scary, but just relax and follow the directions of the box and you will do fine.

You should try getting some "super absorbent" pads. Your flow will vary from day to day and month to month. If you are interested in doing something to reduce your flow, you can exercise. I find that exercising every day drastically reduces my flow.

Good luck

If you insert them the right way, you won't feel uncomfortable. Read the box for tips.

period varies for every individual. some females have heavier periods than others

12 - 14 is a healthy age to have your period

you get easily exhausted during the first time you have your period.

ok, let me see if I can help you.
Just because most women in your family have light cycles doesn't guarantee that you will also. Every body and uterus is different. If you you soak through a pad in less than an hour and continue to do that throughout the whole day there may be call for concern. By soaking through I don't just mean a lot, I mean soaking so far through the pad cannot hold anymore and it starts you start to leak...it could be a sign that something is going on.
Depending on the person and her insides and the type of tampon will depend on whether it is uncomfortable or not. Also you need to make sure they are going in right. There are so many different kinds to try.
Will it lighten by Sat...no one can answer that one, sorry. It depends on your body and cycle.
Nausea is PMS. Not every one gets cramps or nausea..again depends on the person.
Starting at 13 is so very very normal.

You get your genetics from both you mother and your father - meaning that just because your mother's side of the family has light periods doesn't mean that the women on your father's side has light ones. A tampon shouldn't be uncomfortable if inserted correctly. I can't say for sure if it will lighten by Saturday but it should. Some girls don't start their period until they old as 16 so you are fine.

Don't worry about how heavy or light it is right now, it's the first one. If it's awful all the time then maybe just check in with your doctor about it.

Once you get used to tampons, you will never use pads. Just make sure you're using the right size, and it's in there the right way.

& 13 isn't late

I got my 1st period at age 10, but several of my friends didn't get theirs until 12-13 yrs. old. Usually, my worst day is the 2nd day - heavy bleeding, cramps, nausea. Then it begins to taper off. I would say that in most cases, a period lasts from 5 to 7 days. So, you should be a little better by Saturday, but do be prepared by bringing along extra pads. Because it's your 1st period, it may change a little over time. When I started, it was really long but after about 6 months, it shortened and kinda stabilized at 5-6 days per month. PMS is pre-menstrual syndrome. If you start experiencing symptoms like bloating, headaches, mood swings, depression, food cravings or tiredness starting about 3 days before your period is due, that is PMS.
As to tampons, I did think they were uncomfortable when I first tried them, but eventually, I got used to them.
