I would like to replace my kitchen under cabinet 20 Watt halogen puck lights with something that is more energy efficient, uses less electricity, runs cooler and produces brighter, more even lighting. Any ideas?
The old light bulbs — which were round and used 60 to 100 watts are being phased out in Canada –(I forget which year they will no longer be available for purchase)

The say you can save about 45 dollars a year per light bulb — so I thought make that 36 dollars a year or 3 dollar a month times 10 light bulbs –30 dollars a month or 360 per year
I have been buying them with the idea that I will save money on my next hydro bill ( more money for beer) and that I am doing something good to reduce power consumption

The above is a question of only 1 bulb. For me, all my energy efficient bulbs flicker with a tinge of light even powered off. This is noticeable only when there is sufficient darkness around a particular bulb. Not noticeable during day time.
If I turn off one circuit (from my mains circuit breaker), then the flicker goes off in the bulbs for that circuit.
However, other type of lights eg. even energy efficient fluroscent tube lights do not flicker when off.
Could it be all the switches are leaking electricity ? I’ve just rewired my house over 4 months ago. Hopefully I did not get cheated by the electricians

Ok here is the scenerio. I have outdoor christmas lights hooked up to a outdoor cord. My house does not have a outdoor outlet so I have an adapter hooking the outdoor to the indoor then through the front door and plugging it into the living room leaving the indoor plug subjectable to the elements. I solved that by wrapping a paper bag over that part. I feel deep down that I am being stupid but Im not one to trust my instincts and I know squat about electricity. Not looking for a lesson more of the percentage of death and destruction.

This is part of my physics project. Need to build a model. Lets just say you are at some forest with no lake or anything and you have to generate enough electricity to light up an LED, how would you do it?

I know that solar panels get there energy from the sun, but is it just from its heat? Many other things give off heat, like a heat lamp. I put a solar powered light i found up to a heat lamp for a minute and it had energy to produce light for a long time. I don’t know what else it could be, just want to know for sure.

Oh — well in this case I’m talking about solar panels that produce electricity.
1. All transportation vehicles must be hybrid.
2. There must a minimum of 3 trees near where you’re living (The building.).
3. All light bulbs must be fluorescent and citizens may not buy or sell regular light bulbs.
4. No smoking of anything, especially if it causes smoke, is allowed.
5. All electricity must be created by renewable resources, such as solar, wind, tidal, hydroelectric, or geothermal energy.
6. Fossil fuels – coal, oil, and natural gas – uranium and any other nonrenewable resources may never be dug up or used.
7. All parks must be at least 4 square miles large.
8. There must be a minimum of 10 trees at every park.
9. The maximum amount of water used in the bathroom is 50 gallons per person.
10. All faucets and showerheads must be low-flow aerators. All washing machines must also be a water efficient model and all toilets must be high-efficiency toilets.
