My landlord installed an outdoor motion detector light a few days ago and the flood lights on it aren’t working. I know that the light switch that operates it works because the other light that is on that particular switch works and I know that the light unit works because when I walk by it, a red light starts blinking. I thought that it was just because it has a solar cell, however, I was coming in from work at 11:00 PM last night, when it is completely dark outside, and it still wasn’t working. What could be wrong with this thing? I’ve already called my landlord to notify him of this problem, however, he is very difficult to get in contact with. Thanks!
There are three controls on the light: a sensitivity control, which is turned to maximum, a timer control, and some little whitish-greyish button.

I have a floodlight at the front of my house that I need to have removed and installed at a location in the back of my house. In order for the floodlight to be installed in the backyard, a new light switch will need to be installed along with the installation of the light itself. Obviously electrical cables will need to be run too.

I’m not sure who to start calling. Do I call a general contractor, or can an electrician do all of the work involved?

What does this do? It’s a knob that goes from plus to minus and says ‘sensitivity.’ I do not know the brand of flood light (so I can’t look up the user manual.) But, every floodlight I had was testy. I turn it to one extreme and wave my hand in front of the censor and nothing, I turn it to the opposite extreme and still nothing. The light works because it comes on intermittently.

I have a couple questions I need answered:

1. I saw at the Home Depot online that you can buy a LED Flood Light. Are these any good?

2. I saw one that is a par 30 and another that is a par 38. Which would be better for lighting up a 2 story house?

Don’t want to deal with wiring, just looking for simple floodlight i can plugin over my deck so see at night without having to deal with automatic turn on that comes with the solar lights. Any outdoor plugin floodlight is what I’m looking for that i can possible screw into side of house, and ideas on what to search for would be much appreciated.

I know it’s a really simple and probably dumb question. Just want to take out the heat-lamp, and use that fixture for a regular non-heat floodlight with the same R-40 base. So want to be sure that’s safe (is there any way the fixture itself could be designed specifically to use a heat-lamp, and that a floodlight with the same base could therefore cause any problems? I wouldn’t THINK so, but don’t want to take any chances). Thanks in advance…

I have a motion activated floodlight. (I will add the make and model to this question when I get home.) The mains cable goes in through the back and down in to the IR sensor unit. Two other wires come back up from the IR sensor unit and in to the light itself. To make it always on could I simply wire the mains directly in to the light itself and bypass the IR sensor or does it need to be a different voltage?

Also to make it dimmer do I have to swap the bulb for one of a lower wattage or can I do something else?
