Which sounds better? April or February wedding? It is garden themed in Conroe, Tx.?

I really love gardens and flowers and this place that I am having the wedding at is beautiful with gardens. The wisteria, tulip trees, azaleas are just beginning to bloom late February. In April not much is in bloom but trees, banana trees, and shrubs are more lush and green. The girls will be in red gowns, me in a large dress. I love cold or cool weather since I’m from Houston. (I hate the heat). Ceiling fans are all over the grounds, under trellises, in the pavilion, with a/c & heat, and lots of shade. Twinkle lights will be everywhere, including the gazebo and fountains. But can someone help me determine which date to go with? Feb 24 or April 21? The location is just beautiful. But I’m worried about rain and heat and the enjoyment for us & our guests. I want them to have lots of fun and dancing. Would most people enjoy it outdoors in February in Conroe? The pavilion has very large windows so it feels like your outside the whole time also. Please help me decide the date!!

is it hard to grow leeks and onions in pots for transplanting into the garden?

I have purchased small leek plants for transplant into the garden before, but never grown my own from seed. I can’t direct seen onions or leeks in the garden, because my growing season is very short (northern Minnesota). So I want to grow onions and leeks in trays and transplant them. Is it hard to start them from seed? How long do I need to grow them for them to be big enough? will they be reasonably tough when I transplant them, after hardening off, like the purchased plants are? (the purchased leek transplants are grown outdoors in the southern US, so I think they could be tougher, dunno).

I have a good setup with fluorescent shop lights and a rack, covered with plastic, so it’s about 75 degrees fareignheit in there. I grow my own tomatoes, peppers, flowers etc. from seed so am pretty experienced. I want to start the onions and leeks in aluminum cake pans with holes punched in the bottom, like I do my peppers and tomatoes.

thx!!

Landscaping for pink house?

My house was purchase with a light pink vinyl siding on it. It has a white trim. The shudders were a horrible green. We have since painted them black. We are in the process of planning landscaping. What colors should we use. I have figured that red is not an option(we tried red Christmas ribbons on the windows and it looked horrible. What colors of flowers look good with a light pink house?
zone 7 – Northern Alabama
its a very light pink – it really isn’t that bad

landscape photography?

i’m not sure on what to do for my project. I really don’t know if photography is really what I want to do in life either. I take a ton of photos outdoors. I like capturing the sky, the trees, flowers, etc. all the things nature has to offer. I love the way it looks. I usually edit the photos unless I’m just completely blown away by the actual photo.

My project is due Monday (and I just found out about it) it’s for my Career Ed class. I plan on putting it on power point. of course, at the end, I will display my ‘gallery’ of photos. :) I was just wondering:

-what landscape photographers wear
-where they can get jobs (in magazines, companies, etc)
-salary?
-equipment

sorry it’s a lot to ask, I just think that people here would give better answers. I’ve been looking on websites and through a bunch of books. All I ever find is things like techniques, lighting, etc. It’s not much help. (for the project. Of course I can’t wait to spend time on reading through all the information.)
i know it’s a stupid question on what they wear! gosh, it’s my teacher. she decided that every career needs one. if they don’t have a uniform, make one up that would go with the job.

Quandry over a water fountain?

I like to create in my gardens.

My front yard has different types of roses, and evergreens adorning the front of the house. Last year I designed and built a nice little water fountain right under my livingroom windlow.

It is simple but it looks nice and sounds pretty when I sit with my windows open. I have landscaping lights on it and the water runs 24/7. I have flowers and plants surrounding the water.

Now my son in law bought me one and is very proud that he did.

I really like it and wanted one for so long. He had heard me talking of one and had some of it hand made.

I don’t really want to pull down my creation yet but I know that if I don’t attempt to put his up some time this summer he will feel slighted. It was expensive and he and my daughter saved for this in hopes to give me a great gift for mother’s day.

any opinions?

I'm looking for a good quality digital camera for a deal. Mainly for landscapes and pics of people. Help?

As mentioned, I need a fairly cheep digital camera with good quality and that is easy to operate. Im 14 and the main use of the camera will be to take landscape and nature shots, but also those of friends and family. I would like it to have a good close-up setting for flowers ect. I would prefer that it comes with editing software for my computer to adjust light, shadow, effects, ect. Any suggestions???

What lullaby did you sing with your children?

I always sang "Dreams are the flowers that bloom in your heart" because my mother always sang that to me. :]

It goes "Close your eyes, sleep is more than it seems
Soon you’ll discover a garden of dreams
A blossoming tapestry lights up the dark
Dreams are the flowers
that bloom in your heart

Rose dreams are red like a new valentine
Violets are blue ’cause they’re sad all the time
Daisy dreams shine like the sun in the park
Dreams are the flowers
that bloom in your heart
So dream and bloom, bloom and dream
And watch your garden grow
When you awaken with a smile
Everyone will know

You’ve been to dreamland
and now you’ve returned
Eager to share everything you’ve learned
Believing in dreams isn’t really so hard
Dreams are the flowers
that bloom in your heart"

What about you?

Help with convincing to landscape yard?!?

My dad is a very stubborn person and he claims to be at that age where he just doesn’t give a crap about what [people think of our yard. On the other hand my mom brother and i all think our yard needs some help. The entire yard except by the shed and garage are are very nice looking! There is nothing that needs done in those areas other than needing some mulch around the bottom of trees, and i think we need more flowers but my mom says we have enough. Also, i think we should get some landscaping lights and plant grass seeds in this one tiny area where the grass is worn out. But over my the garage it’s a different story…there is a lot of junk and stuff behimd and on one side of the garage…and a lot of it is stuff we don’t need but my dad won;t get rid of it becuase he thinks he will need it someday. And our driveway either needs paved or concreted. Anyway, I need help on how I can convince my dad to allow us to go through his junk by the garage and get rid of it. and then landscape it to make it nice. Also, behind the garage there is our bonfire pit and a small stream…could you maybe think of somethiing to make that space a nice place for bonfires and outdoor gatherings and such. THANKS SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
