How do you anchor something into a stucco covered Styrofoam wall?

I have a fairly heavy transformer for a set of low-voltage lights. On the back of this transformer is a ‘catch’ to hold onto a nail or some such item protruding from a wall. My problem is that the exterior walls of this house is stucco-covered Styrofoam. This is a common type of wall in new construction in the Southwest.

My problem is that I have tried in the past to anchor a flagpole with screws into the wall, and it just pulls out chunks of the stucco, leaving a bad mess.

So, how does one anchor something into just such a wall?

No, this is not such a wall. This is a wood framed house, but the exterior is first covered with Styrofoam and then a cement type stucco is smeared on it. Quite common in the South.

Can I use a computer power supply for anything?

I had to get a new case because the "on" switch started randomly powering down my computer. (Yes, Compaq said the switch on my 4 year old Presario was defective, but they can’t be replaced .. I need a whole new case!)
Anyway, now I have a redundant 350W power supply. Can I use it for anything other than powering a computer? Like running low voltage lights or model trains or whatever.

Deck Lighting, where can I find the best deal on post and floor decking lights?

I’m building a new deck soon and decided I’m going to use a pressure treated cedar tone, which looks much like cedar, and I’m looking at putting low voltage lights on the rail posts on top and on the side by the bottom to light up the deck flooring, everywhere I have looked it is pretty expensive, does anyone have any places to recommend that offers a good deal or any products you may have used yourself, Ive looked at home depot, menards, lowes, and looks like they start out around 25.00 ea. well I will be needing 16 for the posts and 10 for the floor and that’s a lot for lighting, if anyone has any ideas or sugg. when doing deck lighting please fill me in thanks everyone for your help, Larry

Should I go with low- or line voltage?

Need advice on outdoor lighting dilemma. What we have is custom-made recessed low voltage lights installed in a wall. The bi-pins are making us crazy because the MR16 bulbs keep loosening and falling out of their sockets (remember they are mounted vertically).

After some research, I have narrowed the replacement possibilities to two:

1) Stick with the low voltage and replace bi-pin sockets with GU7 twist & lock types and get the right MR16 bulbs for the new sockets. My concern with this option is the heat build-up that might occur; the bulb sits inside a tube which is closed with a lens cover.

2) Switch over to line voltage and give up on the 12 v stuff so the bulbs can screw in instead of plug in. Also the heat build-up becomes less of a concern, or does it?

Or is there another option I am missing? Or any other concerns with the two options above that I should know about?

I am trying to be more “green”.. Solar, 40 watt or Low Voltage?

I am trying to be more "green", but I wonder if I am just defeating my purpose by buying so much plastic solar lights, and wondering if using my old low voltage lights would be less detremental to the earth, or just using 4 or five 40 watt flood lights on timers, where only 1 or two are on at a time.

Any suggestions of offers to where I can find out helpful inormaiton?

Thanks in advance.
