The old light bulbs — which were round and used 60 to 100 watts are being phased out in Canada –(I forget which year they will no longer be available for purchase)

As a result the old light bulbs are on sale everywhere

Ontario Hydro , top scientist David Suzuki and so on are advocating for the new energy efficient light bulbs

Suzuki has been putting the message into a Canadian format and spreading it

"Less electricity equals more beer"

The say you can save about 45 dollars a year per light bulb — so I thought make that 36 dollars a year or 3 dollar a month times 10 light bulbs –30 dollars a month or 360 per year

I have been buying them with the idea that I will save money on my next hydro bill ( more money for beer) and that I am doing something good to reduce power consumption

———– Here is the only draw back to using them I have found — there can be up to a 5 second delay when turning them on to lighting the room — other than that it appears brighter than the regular bulbs for slightly less than 1/4 of the electricity 13 watts compared to 60

Has any of this all of this or some of this het the US yet ?

i have a 35 gallon tank, well planted and well landscaped with wood and stones… with an overhead filter….

ht = 16 -18 in
width = 16 in
length = 30 – 32 in

i currently have a 20 watts and i dont think its enough to make my plants healthy… i have tons of vallis, cabomba and amazon sword plants and others that i dont recognize by name…. so how many watts should i buy which is healthy for the plants and the fishes as well….? i have corydoras and im thinking of adding up a black ghost… thanks!

I have a lot of plants in one room of my apartment, and I want to get some more. I have 17 full-spectrum lightbulbs that equal 40 or 60 watt light of typical bulbs while using 13 or 17 watts of power (they have the spiral shape, I can’t think of the name). I would like to replace these lamps with a string of 25. Is there any way to get a solar or wind generator that would charge a battery to run these lights 12-14 hours per day? I am on a hill, so there is plenty of sun in summer, and a good amount of wind year-round.

Hi guys,
I have a vehicle that puts out 12VDC to the license plate light. The circuit is fused with a 10AMP fuse. I would like to put a scrolling LCD sign in the window and I would like to connect it to the wiring of the license tail light however the scrolling LCD sign uses only 10VDC and 1amps is required for input. I will have to use a resistor to drop the voltage to 10v to the unit only. What size resistor do I need an how many watts? Many thanks in advance!!

I have a parts pc that I’m not using. I recently was given some low voltage outdoor l.e.d. lights. From what i’ve read the lights need a transformer to power them. With these lights being l.e.d.s, the wattage of the bulbs is only 0.375 each x 8 lights for a total wattage requirement of 3 watts. They are also 12 volt. The power supply in the old pc says 12 volt @13 amps. Will this work? or will the amperage be too much? The wiring will be roughly 50 feet long and 14-16 gauge strand copper.

I riped two solar panels out of some solar light and tested them. I found out that they both produce 2 volts(I have no idea on the watts or amps). I"ve hooked them up to an electric motor that can be driven by a AA battery, but when I hook the solar panels up to them nothing happens. What is wrong?

i am looking to build a small solar generator to power a few lights and so forth, i have a deep cycle gel car battery, but what watt and volt solar panel would i need to charge it in an efficient amount of time? also, is it possible to hook up 2 small solar panels to one battery to charge it or would that not work? like would 2 5 watts be as good as a 10 watt?
